We Drove One of Only 555 BMW ALPINA Roadsters

We're heading to the 2026 Concorso d'Eleganza at Lake Como, and we're doing it in style courtesy of BMW Classic. In this road trip vlog, we drive a rare 1996 BMW E36 M3 (S50 engine, 321 hp, 5-speed manual) and a stunning BMW Z8 ALPINA Roadster — one of only 555 ever built — through the Italian Alps, tackling switchbacks, tunnels, snow, and rain on the way to Como.

Along the way we break down what makes the E36 M3 an underrated analog driver's car, dig into the Alpina Roadster's differences from the BMW Z8 it's based on (M62 V8, softer suspension, Michelin tires, switch-tronic transmission), and soak in some of the best driving roads in Europe.
