How-To Use The BMW Automatic Parking and Backup Assistant

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to use BMW’s Automatic Parking and Backup Assistant, two advanced driver assistance features that make parking and reversing effortless.

Automatic Parking: Your BMW can automatically park itself in parallel or perpendicular spaces by scanning for available spots while driving at a low speed. Once the system is activated, simply follow the instructions on the display, and your BMW will take control—steering, positioning, and even shifting into park when the maneuver is complete.

Backup Assistant: Need help reversing in a tight space? BMW’s Backup Assistant remembers the last 50 meters of your drive (under 22 mph) and retraces the exact path in reverse. This is perfect for backing out of narrow driveways or tricky parking spots. While the system controls the steering, you remain responsible for braking, speed, and monitoring your surroundings.
