This 800 HP BMW M5 Is Secretly an ALPINA Successor
These are my first meters in the Bovensiepen 05 GT, the second project from the company formerly known as ALPINA after it sold the ALPINA name to BMW. Based on the G99 M5, the 05 GT gets 800 horsepower and 1,000 Nm from the same plug-in hybrid V8, plus new springs, top mounts, and anti-roll bars aimed at fixing the M5's biggest weakness: ride quality.
A custom Akrapovic titanium exhaust (behind the OPF) changes how it sounds from the outside, and Frank Stevenson's design studio reworked the front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, and diffuser. Bovensiepen will build 199 a year at 50,000 euros over the price of a stock M5, putting this at over 200,000 euros before you touch the leather options. I only got it on track today, but on this early impression, it already feels better than the M5.
Frank Stevenson's studio also walks through the design changes in detail.
