How to perform Phone Pairing with OS 8.5 | BMW How-To
Your BMW is the pinnacle of electric mobility. Pairing your phone to your BMW is where convenience meets connectivity. Allowing seamless integration to the infotainment system, hands free calling, and music streaming, as well as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Once you connect your BMW ID, a convenient ‘Connect Your Device’ tile will show on the Central Information Display. Before beginning, ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Then tap the ‘Connect Your Device’ tile. In the Bluetooth menu on your phone you will see “BMWXXXX”.
You can connect by selecting your phone on the Central Information
Display, or selecting your BMW on your phone. Follow the prompts ensuring that the 6-digit pairing request code shown on your phone matches the one on the iDrive screen.
Once connected, you will be asked if you would like to ‘Allow Contacts and Favorites Sync”. You can then choose to simply use Bluetooth, or Apple CarPlay, or Android Auto.
Congratulations, your phone is now paired with your BMW!
If you need to connect another device, or if you get a new phone, all you need to do is tap the menu icon, then ‘Mobile Devices’, and press “connect new device’. Follow the same steps and you’re all set. If you need to remove a device from the existing list, tap the device and scroll till you see ‘remove device’. If you ever experience any type of connectivity issues with your phone and your BMW, first try to power off and on your device. If this doesn’t work, check to see if there are any available updates for your smartphone. Lastly, remove your phone from the vehicle, and the vehicle from your phone. Then re-pair the devices.
If you are still experiencing any trouble, please contact your BMW Genius, Client Advisor, or BMW Service Center for additional support.
