In today's fast-paced world, staying connected and up to date is essential, even when it comes to your car. With Remote Software Upgrades on your BMW you can ensure your vehicle stays at the top of its game without ever leaving your driveway. Just like your smartphone or computer, your car's software needs to be optimized, secure, and equipped with the latest features.

Staying up to date has never been easier thanks to the MyBMW App. As long you have you allowed ‘Push Notifications’ on your phone you will be notified when a Remote Software Upgrade is available for your BMW. When you receive the notification all you need to do is follow the prompts to ‘start’ or ‘schedule the installation’ for a specific date and time that is convenient for you. If you would like to manually check for a software upgrade in the app, all you need to do is tap ‘Check Status’ below the image of your vehicle, at the bottom under ‘Software’ tap ‘Remote Software Upgrade’. Here you can see your ‘Download Settings’ to ensure you have ‘Download Automatically’ and ‘Download via Wi-Fi Only’ turned on.

You can also check for a software update directly from your BMW. Press the “Menu” button on the Central Information Display, then ‘System Settings’ and scroll to Remote Software Upgrade.

If there is an upgrade, once it is ready to download you will get a pop-up notification at the end of your drive to let you know it is ready to be installed after you are safely parked. It generally takes about 20 minutes for an update to complete.
