How-To Open Your BMW by Foot Motion

With a smart opener, hands-free tailgate operation in BMWs with Comfort Access, simply open the tailgate with a motion of your foot, for example, when your hands are full.

Go to the “Doors and Windows” menu, and under “Tailgate” select “Open with foot movement” and “Close with foot movement” to activate.

Carrying the vehicle key with you, stand at arm’s length at the rear of the car. In the center, move your foot with one swift motion, straight under the middle of the rear bumper. You will see that the tailgate opens automatically.

If activated, you can also close it the same way.

The opening height can be adjusted in the “Doors and Windows” menu.
