This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2023 Subaru Outback crossover SUV. What’s new for 2023? The Subaru Outback gets a redesigned front fascia, front grille, headlights, fog lights, body cladding and the next generation Eyesight technology, Eyesight 4 with the addition of an electric brake booster and an available wide-angle mono camera which works together with the dual camera Eyesight system and recognizes pedestrians and drivers over a wider area around the vehicle. The available smart rear-view mirror now has the camera located in the rooftop antenna featuring unique aerodynamic textures to reduce water accumulation on the camera. There’s a new Onyx trim on the Subaru Outback for 2023 with a black gloss grille, black accents, a rear bumper step pad and 18” dark grey wheels. The Onyx interior gets all weather soft touch upholstery, silver trim and gloss black accents including the door handles. The Subaru Outback gets improvements to the infotainment system with a new home screen, HVAC touchscreen controls, improved rear view camera quality, improved voice recognition, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto on the larger 11.6” touchscreen, available ventilated front seats and front and rear USB-C outlets. The 2023 Subaru Outback has two powertrain options, a 2.4L turbocharged Boxer engine matched to a CVT, 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The base engine is a 2.5L 4-cylinder with 182 horsepower 176 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD and you can put regular fuel in the Outback. There are plenty of trims to choose from, the base engine Convenience trim starts at $32,695 CAD, Touring $36,995 CAD, Onyx $38,695 CAD and Limited $40,995 CAD. 2.4L turbocharged engine, Wilderness $43,195 CAD, Limited XT $43,995 CAD and Premier XT $46,395 CAD.
