NEW Audi A2 e-tron review – we've DRIVEN it!

2026/08/04

In this exclusive new Audi A2 e-tron review, we drive a prototype of Audi's highly anticipated electric hatchback. 26 years after the original aluminium-bodied Audi A2 changed the game, the iconic nameplate is back!

Built on the MEB platform and manufactured in Ingolstadt, the new A2 e-tron hopes to become the ultimate premium compact EV. But with an expected starting price of around £30,000, spectacular efficiency and a real-world range of over 300 miles, is it likely to be better than a Cupra Born or VW ID.3? We take it for a test drive in Sweden to find out!

In this video, we get behind the wheel of the 2027 Audi A2 e-tron prototype. We explore its incredibly aerodynamic exterior, which boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.24. We highlight the active front grille, 19-inch aero wheels, flat underfloor and rear-end with a built-in spoiler that pays homage to the 1999 original.

Under the skin, the A2 e-tron utilises a 58kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery powering a rear-mounted motor. We reveal our real-world efficiency test results, in which the A2 achieved a staggering 5.3 miles/kWh (11.8 kWh/100km) – giving it a theoretical real-world range of over 300 miles!

We also explain the new Audi A2's 105kW rapid charging abilities (10-80% in around 26 minutes) and deliver our early impressions on ride, handling & refinement.
