In this video, we head to Munich to explore everything you need to know about the fifth-generation 2027 BMW X5. We take a look it its bold new exterior design, with a squarer kidney grille and double criss-cross headlights. We also break down the range of powertrains available: a mild-hybrid 3.0-litre diesel, two powerful plug-in hybrids (including a 603bhp M Performance model), a hydrogen-powered version arriving in 2028, and the ground-breaking all-electric iX5.

The new X5 even features airplane-inspired "winglet" door openers, while the interior has centre console made of real slate and a massive two-square-metre panoramic glass roof.

Finally, we assess the X5's practicality. We reveal the size of the boot and jump into the rear seats to test the leg and head room. But now the X5 is a strictly 5-seater, is it still practical enough to compete with the Q7 and XC90? Watch to find out!
