And while it might seem ridiculous to trade a sports sedan with a low center of gravity for a performance-oriented SUV with a higher one, well, you haven’t climbed in the saddle of this bad boy. Its performance-tweaked underpinnings play host to a thrillingly potent 617-hp twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. It’s rapid transit of the first order, unleashing massive power and athleticism that seem impossible in a vehicle that can hold the whole brood and their lifestyle debris. It’s as if the X5 M defies multiple laws of physics. How can a practical vehicle be this much fun to drive?
