Three serious off-roaders, with completely different remits, go head-to-head-to-head.

The Defender hoovers up buyers who want something that’s as at home in Mayfair as it is in mud. The Grenadier is from a new company, but offers a distinctly old-school approach. Whereas the Land Cruiser - a nameplate synonymous with reliability - is back with a new model.

The big question is, which is best off-road? We've come to an abandoned quarry to find out.
