After briefly going MIA, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan returns with a potent plug-in-hybrid powertrain. The system pairs a turbocharged six-cylinder engine with an electric motor that produces up to 604 horsepower. While the sports sedan's interior and exterior styling remain rooted in the timeless E-class aesthetic, AMG adds customary touches. The plug-in hybrid has an EPA-estimated all-electric driving range of 42 miles, and its 21.2-kWh battery can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in about 20 minutes using a DC fast-charger. Compared with the not-as-sporty Benz models, the E53 has an AMG-tuned all-wheel-drive system and adaptive suspension. For 2025, the E53 sedan is flying solo, as the coupe and convertible are not scheduled to return to the fold.

What's New for 2025?

The E53 benefits from the regular E-class recently entering a new generation. The AMG model has a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that's a known quantity, but it's fortified here with an electric motor and plug-in electrical architecture. Mercedes says the E53's body structure has been revised, and a front strut brace has been fitted for greater chassis rigidity, while adaptive motor mounts reduce unwanted noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). The suspension is also specifically tuned for the E53 hybrid’s weight and power-delivery characteristics.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG E53 starts at $89.150 and goes up to $93.300 depending on the trim and options.
E53 Hybrid: $89,150
Exclusive: $91,600
Pinnacle: $93,300
