The Mazda MX-5 convertible is renowned for being one of the best sports cars money can buy, but its fourth-generation, 'ND' model is about to turn seven years old, so how does Mazda go about making it better? Well, the MY22 MX-5 has an ace up its sleeve: Kinetic Posture Control. Does KPC deliver on its promise of an improved drive, though?

Justin Hilliard spent some time in the MY21 ND and the MY22 ND back to back, with the aim of figuring out if the Japanese sports car's new tech improvement has in fact made an excellent sports car even better.

Aside from the fact Mazda Australia has dumped the 1.5L four-cylinder base engine, and therefore managed to bump the prices up significantly, there is no doubt the new 2.0-litre naturally aspirated Roadster soft-top and RF hardtop convertible models are terrific fun to drive - whether you choose the manual gearbox or the automatic transmission.
