Driving the new AUDI RS5 | Race track, City driving, Highway, mountain road

We test drove the 2027 Audi RS5 Avant across these three scenarios highlights the vehicle's dual nature as a high-performance machine and a daily driver:

Launch Control and Racetrack : The RS5 shows impressive agility despite its nearly 2.4-ton weight. The rear torque vectoring and electric motor allow for effective cornering and even controlled drifts in the dedicated RS torque rear mode. While the acceleration and handling are thrilling, the physical weight of the plug-in hybrid system is most noticeable during extended track sessions.

Everyday Driving : In normal conditions, the car is praised for its balanced handling and the comfort provided by the two-valve adaptive suspension. The reviewer notes that while road noise from the tires is quite present, the vehicle is well-insulated from wind noise. The car functions effectively as a comfortable cruiser, though the brakes are described as very sharp and aggressive.

Mountain Pass Road : On winding mountain roads, the RS5 performs exceptionally well as a Grand Tourer (GT). The car handles uneven surfaces with ease, and the torque vectoring mimics the feel of rear-axle steering. However, the reviewer experienced an intermittent issue during aggressive acceleration where the car seemed to struggle with gear selection, an issue for which Audi promised a software update.
