This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan compact crossover. The 2022 Tiguan has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada and in the US, FWD and AWD options are available. You can put regular fuel in this crossover. The redesigned Tiguan has a fresh exterior style with a new front fascia, LED headlights and LED taillights, an available illuminated front grille, standard heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. R-Line styling is a new edition to the VW lineup with two available trims. It includes, 19” wheels, 20” on the Highline R-Line model, black accents, a sporty front bumper featuring large air intakes, as well as body-colour lower panels and R-Line touches inside and out. In the US, Tiguan models with FWD come with a standard 3rd row, optional for AWD models. In Canada, you can add the third row on all trims for $800 CAD. The Tiguan now comes with standard heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a digital gauge cluster. The Tiguan gets 10.6L/100km, 22 MPG city and 8.0L/100 km, 29 MPG highway. The Tiguan keeps its boxy looking design in this refresh but adds a new front fascia, standard LED headlights and LED taillights plus the edition of R-Line styling with two available trims. It includes, 19”-20” wheels depending on the trim, black accents and a sporty front bumper. Both blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert and front Assist with autonomous emergency braking are standard on the Tiguan. With upgraded materials, available third row seats and new interior colour options with two-tone Noisette leather, this new Tiguan is definitely one to consider. It also has optional ventilated front seats and a 3-zone Climatronic system with a standard heated steering wheel and heated front seats. The Tiguan comes with quite a few standard features like a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, cloth upholstery, a Volkswagen digital cockpit with an 8-inch instrument cluster, a 6.5” touchscreen, Apple Carplay and Android Auto plus 17” wheels. In Canada, the Comfortline trim, one up from the base model has the larger 8” touchscreen, a power tailgate, 10.25” instrument cluster, wireless charger, 8-way power driver’s seat, leatherette seating surfaces and door inserts and 18” wheels. The Comfort R-Line Black Edition is where you’ll find 19” black alloy wheels a panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors and 30 colour ambient lighting, The top Highline R-Line model gets the 20” wheels, chrome window surrounds, an 8-speaker Fender audio system, driver seat memory, heated rear outer seats, leather seating surfaces and ventilated front seats. The Comfortline trim is the “best value” trim for $36,795 CAD. You are missing a few key features like driver seat memory, a panoramic sunroof, heated rear seats ventilated front seats and front and rear parking sensors.
