After two generations, the third iteration of the Citroen C4 is no longer a hatchback but a small SUV, and it’s now available in Australia in a single well-equipped Shine grade priced at $37,990 plus on-road costs.

That makes it a rival for premium compact SUVs like the Mazda CX-30 and Renault Arkana, but the new Citroen C4 brings interesting design, a perky turbo triple and loads of technology, even if it lacks a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
