● This is an uncut onboard footage of the 2001 BMW M3 E46 PTG GT V8 Grand-Am racecar racing at Mugello circuit. Unfortunately the car got a flat tire at the end of the video and had to pull over to the side of the track.
In 2000, BMW North America turned to Tom Milner's Prototype Technology Group (PTG) to transform the M3 E46 into a Rolex Grand-Am Series champion. They substituted the inline-six for the M5-sourced 4.9 liter S62 V8 engine and paired it with a Hewland six-speed manual transmission, making it the first V8-powered M3 to race in North America and one of the best sounding M3 E46 racecars ever made (yes, even better than the original M3 E46 GTR).
