Gordon Murray T50 supercar - details and interview about the 'new McLaren F1' | Autocar
Think of the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 as the spiritual successor to the McLaren F1. Designed by Gordon Murray - creator of the F1, designer of championship-winning F1 cars for Brabham and McLaren - the T.50 is a new analogue supercar.
Its construction is carbon fibre. It has three seats, with the driver's seat in the middle. Behind that is a 654bhp (663hp) 3.9-litre V12. There is no 0-60mph time or top speed quoted as yet, because that emphatically isn't what this car is about, Murray tells Autocar, here.
Instead, he says, it's about the driving experience: which is why it weighs just 986kg, why Cosworth has co-operated on a brand new naturally aspirated engine and why it drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
The T.50 will cost £2.36m plus taxes when it goes into full production at the start of 2022. Murray tells us all about this car, how it's constructed, and how some of its performance comes from a fan situated at the back of the car...
