How to use the Launch Control in the BMW M2

2023/06/16

Launch Control is an impressive capability designed to optimize the acceleration of your brand-new BMW M2. This feature operates by maintaining the engine at a specific RPM and subsequently disengaging the clutch or releasing the brake pedal, allowing for a powerful launch. Whether equipped with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, the 2023 BMW M2 includes the Launch Control function. However, there exists a subtle distinction between the two options. For manual BMW models, the activation process involves utilizing the MDM (M Dynamic Mode) instead of disabling the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) by selecting DSC OFF.

Presented below is a comprehensive guide outlining the steps to activate Launch Control specifically for the BMW M2 with a manual transmission:

1. Make sure the engine is running and at operating temperature.
2. Put the car in Sport or Sport Plus mode.
3. Hold down the traction control button for around 4 seconds and turn it to DSC OFF.
4. Put the car in sequential mode (S3). This is the third Drivelogic driving program.
5. Press the brake pedal with your left foot, past the resistance point.
6. Press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor.
The message “Preparing Launch Control” will appear in the dashboard.
7. Release the brake pedal within 3 seconds when the message says “Launch Control Active.”
8. The car will launch with maximum power.
9. Upshifts are automatic as long as the flag symbol is displayed and the accelerator pedal is not released.
