Improved version - Frank´s BMW Z1 - PART 1 - The Car. The Story
We met Frank near Cologne in Germany on a beautiful summer day and 32C.
Frank is a car enthusiast since he was about 20 years old. Mostly drawn to BMW´s he has modified several but his Z1 is a dream come true. And his Z1 is through and through spectacular with a vast number of modifications ranging from the air suspension to the two-toned full leather interior including leather carpeting and leather floor mats! The attention to detail is astounding as you will see in both this first video and also part 2.
You´ll find a complete description of all modifications on Frank´s Z1 below together with links to the companies involved in modifying it, and in our second video on Frank´s Z1 we´ll dive more into the details and modification. You can follow Frank under @bmw_z1_e34.
The BMW Z1 was built from 1988 to 1991 and immediately drew attention when presented on the Frankfurt Motorshow in 1987 because of the vertical sliding doors and most of the body made out of plastic. It was built on the E30 but also featured one of BMW´s first multi-link rear suspensions that would go into the future E36.
It was equipped with only one engine option, a 2,5 litre and 170 hp straight-six engine with a 5-speed Getrag manual transmission only carrying 1,250 kg, so it was very well equipped for its time.
BMW only produced 8,000 of the Z1 making it an immediate collectors car and investment opportunity. Presumably only around 5,000 exist today so it is quite a rare car.
This is our premiere video! We are newbies in making (car) videos, but we are proud to present our very first ever, and we strive to continuously increase the quality with every video we give you.
This video is shot by one man using a GoPro for all driving scenes and a Sony A7iii for the rest. We sincerely hope you will enjoy Frank´s car and story, and we´d love to have your comments and suggestions on the video.
What modified classic BMW should we shoot next? Please tip us in the comment section below!
