2020 BMW 840i M SPORT REVIEW - Don’t Waste Money Buying An M8
I have already reviewed the 2020 BMW M8 and I told you NOT to buy one because of its MSRP of $140,000. Today I review the 2020 BMW 840i with an MSRP of $85,000 and I will discuss whether you should buy THIS 8 series instead.
I was thrilled to get back in the new BMW 8 series. I love the design of this car with its BMW Laser headlights and the giant hood ahead of the driver. It is one of the sexiest cars on the road with body lines that mimic the essence of speed and supermodels.
The interior is such a pleasant place to be, and this particular 840i comes equipped with the M Package. A must have for this car. Another must have feature is the gorgeous Crystal package (also included in this car).
Power comes from a Twin Turbo 3.0 i6 with 335 horsepower and 368 torque that powers this GT from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Here is where the problem lies. A proper GT car, especially one with a price tag approaching $100,000, should be more powerful. Especially considering that you chose the BMW over the Mercedes S class, which would be the more luxurious option (at the sacrifice of extra power). Meanwhile with the 840i, you sacrifice some of the luxury of the Mercedes S class, while still sacrificing performance by not upgrading to the 850i, which is powered by a 4.4 Twin Turbo V8 that produces 523 horsepower and 553 torque, launching the car from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds thanks to the AWD system. THIS is the car to get. The 850i is the BMW 8 series you SHOULD buy. A true GT car in every sense of the word.
Watch my review and then compare it to the BMW M8 I reviewed last year.
